Precious babies and little people may be tiny, but their stuff takes up a lot of room. This room is not very big, so we need to keep it minimal. I have always tried to keep our kids’ clothes more on the minimal side.
My favorite outfits are solid-colored tops and bottoms that can mix and match. Most Eloise’s clothes are in the dresser with a few hanging in the closet. As you can see, there are enough options that I don’t have to do laundry every day but not too much that doesn’t fit into each drawer easily. Also, you are seeing that correctly, one of the dresser drawers is completely empty. I included that picture to show, it is okay to have empty baskets or drawers.
In the closet, there is a weird awkward angle wall that I was struggling with. Because the room is on the smaller side, I wanted to make sure we are maximizing all the space. I had been eyeing this door organizing system from The Container Store and it dawned on me that this would be perfect for that angle wall. Now, what used to be an awkward space, adds a ton of storage and functionality. As Eloise grows, she can use this for toys, clothes, or I imagine someday doll clothes and accessories.
On the changing table I got this caddy. Everything we need is right here in easy reach. In the baskets below, we just keep extra diapers, extra blankets, and toys.
Another area that can be overwhelming is bottles, feeding supplies, food, and bibs. With Hank we were suckers for all the cute bibs with fun sayings. It became overwhelming finding a spot to store all of them. I decided, Eloise will only have 2 bibs that are made of silicon so they would be easy to spray or wipe clean. They are stored on a command hook on the back of her high chair so they are always at the ready. We have designated this drawer for all Eloise feeding items. Although most of the bottles and parts stay out on the drying rack, we can keep any extra pieces and lids in here. Spoons, tiny bowls, baby food, and snacks all fit nicely. The biggest takeaway I wish for you my friend, is to keep baby items to a minimum as much as possible, and let the container be the bad guy.
XOXO,
Krisa
