Hello friends! I’m Krisa: A Type I Diabetic who loves all things frugal and tidy. I am married to a hilarious handy hubby and mom to a beautiful bulldog named Cecil. I hope you grab your beverage whether it be coffee (if it’s am) or wine (if it’s pm) and hang out for a while. Here you will find anything from DIY projects to random health tips that help with my struggle of being a Type 1 diabetic. The Diabetic Organizer is the place where I truly get to be the organizational freak my family/friends know me to be.
First, here are a few fun facts about myself. I am a 29 year old that grew up on a farm in a real small town in Iowa. There were 30 people in my graduating class. Yes you read that correctly 30 people! So when I say small I sure mean it! I love Iowa and the Midwest and all the things it has to offer. I hate the hot heat and the bitter cold. So spring and fall are my all-time favorite seasons. I love love love coffee, wine, budgeting, Cecil, DIY, organizing, cooking (when time allows), reading (books and magazines, I loooove magazines) and spending time with family. About 2 years ago the hubby and I bought a fixer upper on a nice little acre so we could spread our wings a little. Best decision ever!! Now I get to enjoy this view every morning and every night!
I am married to a super duper fellow DIYer handy husband name Skylar. (I will often refer to him as Sky) He is a total nerd for numbers & statistics (no really, his job is in credit risk). He is always willing to try any of my off-the-wall DIY projects or ideas. But, on the flip side he brings me down to earth when what I am wanting logistically just cannot happen. I am constantly re-organizing drawers, closets, and cupboards because I think I have a better solution and this drives Sky bonkers! As much as we both hate to admit it we met at Apple River (if you are from the Midwest you probably know what Apple River is) although we did not actually have a conversation until several months later at a University of Iowa tailgate. He proposed on the one year “anniversary” of our first conversation. The rest is history. In August 2011 we had the wedding of my dreams on my family farm that has been in our family for over a century. I am so lucky to have found my soul mate and the man of my dreams. He truly has been my rock through the whole journey of being diagnosed with diabetes. He will be an amazing father someday when that time comes. All in all, we are a pretty darn good team and I feel so lucky God chose him to be my teammate through life.
My college degree is in dental assisting and I have been working in a dental office for almost 10 years now. I currently am an office manager in an endodontic dental office (root canals, exciting stuff!). I decided to start this blog for a creative space to share
