How To Add Inexpensive Character To A Home

September 25, 2016 by wpadmin

Hello friends!  Today on the blog I am showing how I have added a ton of depth, character, personality, and customization to various spaces in our house with wood painted signs.  I love anything that involves reclaimed wood!  I love the way that they add a touch of character and a different texture to a space.  When we moved into this house there was an extremely overgrown area of wildflowers on one side of the house that had some fencing around it.  We didn’t have another area to move the fencing to in our lot so Voila! A whole stack of reclaimed wood for free!  Through my years of scrapbooking I have accumulated a lot of different sizes and shapes of letters so now I am getting those put to good use.  Basically, I just measure the space I want a sign to fit, trace the letters for the wording, and paint the wording with craft paint.  Depending on the space and how I want the sign to look I might paint the actual wood itself before painting the lettering.  So, for next to nothing I get some really neat customized signs that really add character to a space.

This “Burdock” sign sits on this little metal bucket on a ledge in our living room.

I have always loved the little saying “Happy Together…” meaning happiness goes on and on forever.  I feel like that is significant to Sky and I so I wanted to incorporate it into our master bedroom.

This “Laundry” sign hangs above our little laundry area in the main floor bathroom.

This isn’t a sign but it goes with the theme so I thought I would add a picture in this post.  These are the towel hooks in our main floor guest bathroom.  They coordinate nicely with the “Laundry” sign.

I have big plans to add more in the future!  I would love to make a sign for every season to sit by our front door.  Maybe that will be a great snow day project this winter!  Thanks for reading! -Krisa
